Louis L. “Lou” Knopik, 89, of Grand Island passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Church. Inurnment of ashes will be at a later date at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rosary vigil will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Resurrection Catholic Church building fund.

Louis was born Aug. 13, 1928, to Frank and Caroline (Lesiak) Knopik in Fullerton. He grew up on a farm near Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1946. Louis joined the Navy in 1948 and proudly served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952.
Louis married Donna J. Faust on Oct. 7, 1953, in Fullerton. After marrying, the couple farmed in Iowa and then returned to Nebraska and were small business owners in Fullerton. Louis was later employed by Sperry New Holland, retiring after 25 years of employment.
He was a lifetime member of Resurrection Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His hobbies included woodworking, working on his yard and telling his sons what to do.
Those left to cherish his life include his wife of 64 years, Donna; children, Patrick (Krissa) of Lincoln, Douglas (Dana) of Bellevue, Michael (Cindy) of Grand Island; grandchildren, Nicki Becker, Erin Stoddard, Teresa Jones, Brandee Bruening, Kayla Barnes, Kirby Knopik, Jacob Knopik, and Cassie Long; great-grandchildren, Sam Becker, Katelyn and Kyler Stoddard, Gideon, Gabriel and Oliver Jones, Madison and Margot Bruening, Blake and Cole Knopik, and Rhett Long.
Louis was preceded in death by son, David; infant grandson, Jason; his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Dave Knopik, 40, formerly of Fullerton, died May 12, 1995 in Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Knopik was born on Dec. 5, 1954 in Fullerton to Louis and Donna (Faust) Knopik. He received his elementary education at St. Peters Parochial School in Fullerton.
The family moved to Grand Island in 1967 and he attended Engleman School and graduated from Northwest High School in 1973. He obtained his journalism degree in 1977 from the University of Nebraska. He then worked as a writer-reporter for KOLN-KGIN television station for three years. then he moved to Denver and worked for Channel 7 as a news reporter and writer for five years.
Then he moved to New York and worked for TWA airlines as a flight attendant for three years. He also was a writer for Glamour magazine. He moved to Phoenix in August 1994 and was a writer and reporter for Channel 15 in Phoenix.
He was a member of SS Simon and Jude Cathedral in Phoenix.
Survivors include his parents, Louis and Donna Knopik of Grand Island; three brothers, Patrick of Lincoln, Douglas of Papillion and Michael of Grand Island; and his maternal grandmother, Martha Faust of Fullerton.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Victor Faust and Frank and Carrie Knopik.

Eugene Delatour, long-time resident of Lewellen, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 in his home in York.
He was born on May 8, 1953 in Lewellen to Eugene and Frances Marie (Kriha) Delatour, the youngest of four children. Like his father he was not given a middle name. He attended District 50, Lewellen Elementary and graduated from Lewellen Rural High School in 1971.
Gene, “Wiener”, was raised north of Lewellen on the family ranch. He lived the life of a cowboy and was an avid horseman in his early years. On Oct. 19, 1974, he married Dolores (Cutsor) and to this union three children were born. He spent many hours watching westerns and The History Channel. He loved talking to his children each day on the phone to see “what was up”. He also enjoyed phone visits with many other family and friends quite often. He loved rides in the country to check on the crops and any wildlife he could find. He had his moments as a father, but as “Papa” he shined. He babysat and taxied grandkids to and from school. He attended birthday parties and watched many sporting events, even a few dance recitals.
Gene is survived by his children, Tina Marie and husband Steve Hunzeker of York, Wesley Van Allen Delatour and fiancé Rochelle Earl of Newman Grove and Molly Beth and husband Pat Skomer of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Skylan Curnett of Omaha, Jaiden, Aleyah and Krynne of York and Willa of Lincoln; his brother, Van and wife Debbie Delatour of Lewellen; his sister, Jackie Delatour of rural Harrison; Butch and Pete Roberson who were like brothers; his AA sponsor, Jack of Norfolk; the mother of his children, Dolores Tague of Omaha; his faithful mutt Skeeter and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Frances Delatour and his sister, DyAnn Armstrong.
Per Gene’s wishes, he was cremated. A public memorial service will be held at the Ash Hollow Cemetery on May 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Luncheon in Lewellen to follow.
