LINCOLN ALLEN PASSES ON AT BRODHEAD HOME; WAS EARLY CAR DEALER
Brodhead. - (Times Special Service) - Abraham Lincoln (Link) Allen, 85, one of the city's oldest residents and pioneer business man, died at 10:30 this morning in his home here following a 14-hour illness. Mr. Allen suffered a stroke last night.The first Ford dealer in southwestern Wisconsin, Mr. Allen farmed in Spring Grove township, operating a sawmill on his farm. In 1907 he moved to Brodhead where for a time he was Ford, Buick, and Chevrolet dealer. At the time of his death he operated L. Allen and Son implement and seed store with his son Chauncey.
He was born April 27, 1859, in Spring Grove township, son of Eliakim R and Eliza Woodling Allen. On Feb. 9, 1893 he married Mary Catherine Zimmerman, who survives him.
Last of a family of eight children, he is survived only by his widow and son. Another son died in infancy.
Funeral services are to be at 2 Friday afternoon inthe Newcomver funeral home, Rev. J.C. Robertson, of the Congregational church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
